Community

Community and Connection

Our social activities are such an important part of Mobilates.

Living with long term health conditions can feel incredibly lonely at times, especially when it seems like the people around you do not fully understand what day to day life is really like.

We hold spaces to create space for friendship, support, laughter and encouragement, helping people feel less alone and more connected.

Because healing is not only about movement, it is also about feeling seen, understood, and having a real sense of belonging.

Social Activities

Although all of our classes are naturally very social, because they are live and fully interactive, these sessions are the ones that are especially focused on coming together to chat, share and connect.

In our classes, people talk, laugh, have a moan if they need to, and no one is muted unless they want to be. These social sessions simply create even more space for that support, understanding and sense of togetherness.

Mobilates Mob Facebook Group

Our private Facebook group is a lovely space for members to stay connected, celebrate wins, share hard days, and lift each other up through all the ups and downs of living with chronic health conditions, pain, fatigue and mobility issues. It is all about community, encouragement and knowing there are people here who truly get it.

Please read our community guidelines so we can keep this a safe and supportive space before you join and please remember to answer the questions so we know who you are.

First off - this group is for paying Mobilates members only, so we can keep it a safe, private space to share what's going on with other people who just get it. Once you're here, you're part of Da Mob - even if your membership lapses. Once a Mob Member, always a Mob Member.

Please don’t invite others in unless you know they’re currently a paying Mobilates member. If you would like to recommend us please send them to www.mobilates.com. If they join and tell us you referred them you get a month off paying!

Only recommend services or resources that you’ve personally tried and feel confident about. We’re all here to help each other, but untested stuff, even if well-meant, can sometimes do more harm than good.

Please don’t share anything from this group externally, and don’t tag non-members in posts. What happens in Da Mob stays in Da Mob (it’s how we protect each other’s privacy).

And a gentle word about how we communicate
This is a really diverse space. We’ve all got different experiences of health, ability, trauma, body image, identity and more. That means it’s important we’re mindful of how we speak to and about one another - even in jokes.

Let’s aim to:

  • Use inclusive, body-positive language

  • Avoid anything that sounds like diet culture or makes assumptions about weight or health

  • Be kind - we never know what someone else is carrying

  • Not underestimate or dismiss someone else’s experience

  • Keep this space somewhere people feel safe to be themselves

We’ve worked hard to make sure our website, socials and this group reflect real members with real bodies because that’s what Mobilates is all about. It’s not about “fixing” ourselves, it’s about learning to live in our bodies with compassion and care.

Please keep showing up, sharing how you are, asking for help, venting, celebrating and just being YOU.

Peer-led WhatsApp Groups

We also have peer-led WhatsApp groups linked to Mobilates, giving members another way to chat, share and feel supported in between classes and socials.

These groups are there for connection, understanding and shared experience, with a focus on keeping things kind, respectful and safe for everyone.

These are supportive WhatsApp group chat where people sometimes share personal experiences about physical health, mental health, and disability, as well as other sensitive topics like sex and sexuality, religious beliefs or political beliefs.

Messages are visible to the whole group. WhatsApp shows your name, number, and profile photo to other members. Please be mindful that the information you are sharing can be personal and may identify your location.

Please be aware that although it is against the guidelines, it is possible for messages in any WhatsApp group chat to be shared outside of the group.

Group admins will review your request to join.  Once you have joined the group chat, please introduce yourself with your full name and preferred name.  By clicking on the link to join you are choosing to join on that basis, and you are free to leave at any time.  If you leave, you may re-join at any time.  By clicking on the link to join you are agreeing to the Guidelines and Privacy Statement.
