Before I started Bed Pilates I felt there was nothing I could do to help my pain and mobility.

Despite being highly motivated to do physio, no more exercises were given after the first 3 rounds of treatment, just encouragement to keep going. It’s impossible to stay motivated to do the same exercises for years on end without seeing improvement.

I tried aqua aerobics and swimming but had to give up in the end because of difficulties accessing the pool and the exhaustion of dressing afterwards. My referral for hydrotherapy was refused.

After a month of trying Bed Pilates I have hope that things may improve. I enjoy the classes and finally feel my health needs are understood and catered for. I feel encouraged to do my best and supported that if something is too hard I can do it another way. My back feels stronger and my lymphatic flow is much better.

The social aspect is really important as I’m virtually housebound and there is a real sense of belonging and feeling valued.

Mobilates has helped me to feel included and that my health conditions are important. I have felt overlooked and dismissed by the NHS and other exercise providers as they don’t really know how to help me. Living with long term pain, immobility and fatigue is exhausting and mentally challenging. It’s just so nice to feel heard and understood.

There is no pressure with anything so for example if you have a terrible night’s sleep you can catch up on the replay that’s fine. If you need to rest during a session that’s fine too. To sum it up I think it is a service of positivity compared with the negativity we mostly experience as disabled people.
