I started Bed Pilates with Leanne through EDS UK, and honestly it’s been life-changing.
I was pretty much housebound because I was so scared of falling or ending up too sore to get back home.
I didn’t know what to expect, but the community was amazing! Everyone is so supportive, fun, and not afraid to have a laugh (there was even a little fart once and we fell about laughing!).
The sessions themselves have been brilliant. I’ve learned how to actually use my core properly instead of just crunching, and most importantly, how to exercise safely with EDS without guilt or pressure.
Leanne always gives alternative movements for different conditions, for example, she once said, “if you’re feeling potsy today, be mindful of holding hands above your head or doing roll downs.” That kind of awareness makes you feel so seen.
I have had so many PTs in the past that have the NO PAIN NO GAIN mentality and I ended up with more injuries everytime (notably when I was doing a Romanian deadlift and my shoulder fully dislocated… and still told to try and finish my set!)
Having the option to use recordings has been a game changer for me too, since I work a busy job and can’t always make the live sessions.
I’ve now become an official member and have the confidence to join in the other Mobilates classes, which I never thought I’d do.
I’d recommend Mobilates to anyone with a chronic illness. I’ve already told my friends with endometriosis and others struggling with movement or confidence. It’s not just exercise, it’s a safe and supportive community.
