Low-cost Access to Exercise for People with health conditions (LAEP)
With thanks to Sport England and
The National Lottery
At Mobilates we believe that everyone deserves access to inclusive exercise that meets their needs. That includes people from low income households.

Why low cost exercise matters
Time and again we hear stories from people with long term health conditions that they simply can't afford to join an exercise class.
For people with chronic pain or disabilities, high costs is one of the biggest barriers to getting active.

In our survey of people with long term health conditions, 87% said cost was their biggest barrier to joining an exercise class.
We have removed that cost with LAEP.

Many of us have had to choose between heating, food, or gentle movement that supports our bodies.

That’s why LAEP exists.
It aims to remove the financial barrier so that people with long term health conditions can move safely and reclaim independence at home.

Money will not be a barrier for you to access inclusive exercise with Mobilates.

What to expect from our exercise classes
Bed Pilates with Leanne

A super gentle introduction to exercise from the comfort of your bed or a mat on the floor.
We will start with a gentle breathing exercise to soothe your body and mind.
Then moving slowly and mindfully we will explore movements that work on building strength, enhancing mobility and easing pain.
You will be lying on your back, side or front, sitting and some four point kneeling.
Options always available.
We will end with a gentle relaxation to allow your body to replenish some energy and we always allow some time to chat and catch up at the end.
Pain Reprocessing Therapy with Caroline

This course blends education with practical tools to help you understand and recover from chronic (neuroplastic) pain.
Each session includes a short teaching on topics like the protective nervous system, the window of tolerance, and pain reprocessing therapy, alongside guided practices such as body scans, breathwork, progressive relaxation, and gentle somatic meditations.
The course is interactive but relaxed: you can join from the comfort of your home, camera on or off, and all practices are adaptable to your needs.
To get the most from the course, you’ll be encouraged to explore simple techniques between sessions, building your own toolkit for greater calm, confidence, and ease in everyday life.

For the initial 4 week programme the schedule will be:

-
Tuesdays 12pm Pain Reprocessing Therapy with Caroline
-
Thursdays 12pm Bed Pilates with Leanne

We have a couple of programmes where the sessions will be 6pm Tuesdays and 5.30pm Thursdays for 4 weeks.

After that you will be able to choose classes that suit your needs.
Meet the Teachers

Leanne is the founder of Mobilates and a dedicated movement specialist living with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Endometriosis, and other long-term health conditions.

In her twenties, she spent much of her life in bed due to the severity of her symptoms, and even using a wheelchair was difficult because of frequent dislocations in her wrists and shoulders.
Despite these challenges, she discovered Pilates. Although mainstream classes were inaccessible, she persisted, slowly building strength, reducing pain, and regaining mobility. This turning point inspired her to train as a Pilates teacher.

Leanne went on to create Mobilates, a not-for-profit membership making exercise truly accessible for people with chronic illness, disability, and mobility limitations.
As a certified Pain-Free Movement Specialist, she now leads a team of instructors with lived experience of health conditions, ensuring classes are inclusive, empathetic, and adaptive.

You will be working with Leanne in your one to one consultations and Bed Pilates classes. She will be your main point of contact and support you through the programme.

Caroline began her yoga training immediately after completing her university studies as a Learning Disability Nurse, qualifying as a yoga instructor in 2007. While pausing her nursing career to raise her three children, she continued to teach yoga and explore movement in greater depth, developing a passion for fascia-focused practices and mind-body approaches to wellbeing.
Now a dedicated wellbeing practitioner, Caroline specialises in chronic pain recovery through her practice Move with Ease, with an understanding that many people also live with chronic illness or mobility challenges as part of their experience.
She brings together training in Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Embodied Pain Science, alongside functional breathing (Buteyko), mindfulness & meditation, clinical sports and myofascial release massage, yoga with fascia movement.
Her work is trauma-informed, grounded in safety, compassion, and the principles of nervous system regulation. She sees her work as a continual journey — always learning, reading, teaching, and personally growing.
Through Move with Ease, her approach is rooted in the latest neuroscience of pain while remaining practical and person-centred, helping people to soothe their nervous system, reduce fear and anxiety around symptoms, and rediscover a sense of ease in daily life.
