What you will need to bring
Meet our facilitators and find out more about the activities
Facilitator and Pilates Teacher
Kerry
Kerry teaches Pilates for Mobilates. She came to Pilates through postnatal joint and tendon issues, plus she lives with migraine. Kerry found her body has become stronger and more resilient so although she still has joint and tendon challenges, Pilates keeps her supported and active.
Sensory Stimulus
Did you know that different sensory stimuli can affect your range of motion and your pain levels? We're going to try using different sensory stimuli exercises and check out the impact on our range of movement and comfort levels. You might be surprised! This is a seated activity.
Target Practice
Gentle movement using a visual target to move in a seated or standing position plus some lying down mat options. Using a towel and stickers as targets to help balance and stability.
Venue Host
Hazel
Hazel, one of our longest term Mobilates members found and booked the gorgeous venue for us. We will be well looked after in her company.
The Venue
Willand Village Hall
Willand Village Hall is a fantastic hall with plenty of parking, level access into and throughout the building, accessible toilets, a lovely kitchen and plenty of space for us. We will have a separate chill out room where you can relax and take a break whenever you need.
Qigong and Sound Bath Practitioner
Santana
Santana teaches Qigong for Mobilates. With a back ground in Social Work and Dance, Santana had to take a long break after becoming swamped in injuries and illness related to hEDS and was a wheelchair user. After finding a way to regain strength and health through Qigong, she aims to share this experience with as many people as possible. She is a specialist in working with Trauma Survivors and has a strong understanding of how health difficulties impact our relationship with movement.
Qigong
Using Qigong we will work neuro-somatically to engage the cranial nerves in this fun session of Chinese movement. You will find a healthy balance of energy and relaxation through slow flowing movements, meditation and some self massage focusing on pressure points.
Sound Bath
Let your sense of hearing now lull you into a deep relaxation session. Get comfy with pillows and blankets while the vibrations wash over you, bathing you in sounds. Take a journey with Santana guiding you to serenity with nature sounds, the hum of the gong and specifically tailored frequency from the singing bowls. At the end, you are welcome to have a try, encouraging curiosity and play for your well-being.
Retreat main contact,
Facilitator and Movement Instructor
Leanne
Please contact Leanne if you have any questions about the retreat. Leanne will be the main facilitator for the day and will be there to support you throughout.
Leanne has hEDS, POTs, Endometriosis and other associated health conditions that have at times impacted on her ability to walk and move around easily. She is a fully experienced and qualified fitness instructor who specialises in working with people with chronic health conditions and mobility issues and is able to adapt classes to support and enable everyone to join in.
Magic Circle Pilates - Your chance to experience the magic of the Pilates Ring, otherwise know as the Magic Circle! Feel the gentle resistance of the ring activate your muscles as you mindfully integrate it into your body to support and challenge your movement. Adaptations are available for all needs.
